Coaches' FAQ

U7 and U9 do not require coaches to take any courses or have certifications in order to participate. However, in order to ensure consistency across divisions and ensure the best experience for all players, Bulkley Valley Softball requests that all U7 and U9 take the courses regardless of requirement.

Taking both courses is unnecessary for community level ball (U13C, 15C, U17C). It would be highly recommended to choose Community Sport Ongoing Participation for coaches not planning to coach at rep team levels.

Coaches that intend to coach rep teams (U13B, U15B, U17B) will be required to take the Competition branch courses, so if you plan to coach rep ball now or in the future, the Competition Weekend would be a better decision.

Technically, each team requires only 1(one) Certified Coach on the field during games. However, due to the size of the association, number of squads, and ensuring the best experience for our players, Bulkley Valley Softball requests that all coaches maintain their training and certifications.

No. Bulkley Valley Softball will be hosting a Community Sport - Ongoing Participation Clinic in Smithers. Once dates and locations are confirmed, all coaches will be notified.

Similarly, plans are ongoing to host Competition Development Clinics or arrange options within our District.

Yes, thanks to support from Softball BC and the Minor Development Fund, as well as the commitment of our Association to support the ongoing growth of our league, coaching fees for certifications and other expenses are reimbursable.

Please save all receipts and submit them to the league through the Certification Reimbursement Form.
